**Position Title: Field Merchandising Manager**

**Team and Location: Retail - Mississauga, ON**

**Salary from: $83,000/year**

**Position Summary**:The Field Merchandising team is a national function and a key component to Parkland’s success as we strive for heightened operational excellence and an improved customer experience to achieve best-in-class status amongst convenience retailers in Canada. The Field Merchandising Manager will support Parkland’s merchandising standards and store execution program in a territory supporting a portion of ~800 convenience stores. This role will collaborate with various departments including Operations, Merchandising, Marketing, Vendors and Retailers. The Field Merchandising Manager will provide site level support for store layouts, product assortment, planograms, resets, displays, smallwares, promotions, signage, inventory and category sales analysis.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Actively coach and train Parkland Retail operators ensuring best in class merchandising execution and Operational Excellence.
- Provide coaching and training to Territory Managers (TMs), Retailers and staff to ensure merchandising best practices are followed for all categories within the c-store.
- Lead site level training to improve selling capabilities and customer support. Communicate the financial benefit to Retailers for supporting prescribed programs.
- Deliver execution excellence at site level with respect to pricing, promotions, planograms, sku assortment and program compliance.
- Conduct site visits at regular intervals as prescribed along with regular site visits and coaching opportunities with TMs supporting internal growth.
- Support store layout execution at site level; provide meaningful feedback to the Store Planning team for potential enhancements to the layout.
- Validate accuracy for each site’s POG mapping assignments and ensure site attributes are current for each location in an assigned territory.
- Support Parkland’s vendor partner and Operations for store conversion activities related to merchandising, quality, consistency and best practices across a network of retail locations.
- Present strong financial acumen and utilize the inhouse reporting tools available to identify opportunities at site level.
- Track key sales metrics (sales/group/unit/profit) for sites. Analyze and share insights with Merchandising and Operations to drive incremental results to enhance understanding the business and improving profit.
- Establish collaborative liaisons between Retailers, Operations, Marketing and Merchandising communicating successes and opportunities in a defined territory.
- Work with stakeholders to develop and enhance processes reducing food and store equipment downtime.
- Support regional and local vendor communication and accountability; work closely with the Merchandising team to provide solutions to identify opportunities at site level
- Support regional and national national ad hoc merchandising needs

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Post-secondary education in Commerce/Business ideally with a focus on Merchandising or Marketing.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience, preferably within a multi-unit business model, preferably but not necessarily in the retail or convenience store industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to identify gaps in competencies and coach effectively.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
- Ability to develop strong business relationships.
- A flexible team player that can work collaboratively within a diverse group of stakeholders across the organization.
- Ability to think and act professionally in pressure situations.
- Must be able to make difficult decisions based on sound data / information that are in the best interest of Parkland. Must be able to evaluate situations from all perspectives providing fair assessments and solution.
