Job title: Garde-Manger Chef (NOC 62200)

We are a high-volume caterer in Thornhill seeking Garde-Manger Chef for preparation of dishes such as salads, appetizers, hors d’oeuvres and sandwiches, including traditional foods served at the Jewish high holidays, seders, funerals, shivas etc. Garde-Manger Chef will also be responsible for vegetable craving and decoration of platters for functions. We are seeking to hire a full-time permanent Garde-Manger Chef, who will work a minimum of 30 hours/week to a maximum of 40 hours/week.

**Duties**:

- Prepare all hot and cold foods in our kitchen including desserts (cookies/cakes), all types of vegetable, grain and other salads, fish/dairy dishes, canapes, fruit/vegetable platters, fancy sandwiches and related components including sauces for events large and small including holidays and life events
- Prepare culturally relevant and traditional Jewish dishes
- Supervise and Train other kitchen staff
- Create and prepare garnishes, presentation of platters with decorative flair and visual appeal
- Instruction others in food preparation and food presentation
- Properly storing and labeling all food and ingredients
- Maintaining food safety standards and a sanitary kitchen
- Menu planning; recipe planning
- Monitor and request food stock and supplies.**Requirements**:

- Must be available to work all hours including weekends and holidays (30 Hours Per Week)
- Must be available to work early morning hours
- Minimum Educational Requirement: Secondary School, related college credentials preferred
- Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in commercial food preparation
- Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt and work within a team.
- Effective communication skills
- Works well under pressure
- Positive and reliable
- Must have understanding and work experience with Kosher-style foods and knowledge of traditional Jewish cuisine
- Must have vegetable carving expertise

Work Location: 180 Steeles Ave West, Unit #12, Thornhill Ontario.

Wage: $34.10 per hour

Vacation: Eligible for 2 Weeks Vacation After Full Year of working

Pay: $34.10-$36.10 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
