**Wage**: $74.50/day and $149/day

**What do you offer?**

The Otonabee Overnight Camp Counsellor implements and facilitates the delivery of quality recreational programs, services and experiences to children and youth aged 4 to 16 enrolled at Camp Otonabee. The Overnight Camp Counsellor ensures that children and youth have a positive experience leading to personal growth through fun and rewarding recreation and sport programs. This position fosters self-esteem as well as problem solving and conflict resolution skills in program participants, while working to create an atmosphere of safety, belonging and positive development in accordance with Y policies and procedures.

**Some of the tasks of this position include**:

- Leading and participating in all programs.
- Delivering programming based on skill level and age of participants.
- Delivering day and overnight camp programs to assigned camper group.
- Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Being responsible for the safety, supervision and security of all participants.
- Developing and maintaining an open, constructive and professional relationship with program participants, caregivers, volunteers, co-workers and supervisors.

**Language**
- Ability to work in English
- Bilingualism is an asset

**Experience, Skills and Abilities**
- Standard First Aid and CPR “C” or equivalent
- National Lifeguard Certification, Bronze Cross, Paddle Canada, CUI, or other relevant certifications will be strongly considered as assets
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with program participants, members, staff and volunteers
- Ability to maintain calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members, including visible and invisible dimensions of diversity

**Additional Requirements**
- Must be 17 years old by June 24, 2024.
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
