Assisstant Grower

Greenbelt is a local greenhouse operation located in Lynden ON. We grow to produce, harvest it, and process it on a highly automated production line. Our team is growing fast and looking for talents to join us.
- **Job brief**_

The Assistant Grower will work directly with the Grower, Head Grower, Inventory Control Coordinator and the Plant Operations Manager to fulfill these responsibilities.
- **Key Responsibilities**_
- Performs crop care activities under the direction of the Grower to grow assigned crop to specifications, on time and within pest tolerances, as per crop schedule provided by the Production Team;
- Spreads/broadcasts biologicals on the crops under the direction of the Grower;
- Troubleshoots issues and performs minor maintenance activities on spray booms as required.
- Collaborates with team to resolve growing issues and takes required action to correct them;
- Operates greenhouse automation machines safely and effectively, troubleshooting issues as required;
- Ensures all growing activities in accordance with all relevant regulations (Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Labour, CFIA, etc.), maintaining all required documentation for internal and regulatory purposes;
- **Qualifications**_
- Minimum 3 year’s greenhouse experience or horticulture diploma/degree and 1 year greenhouse experience;
- Organic growing experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of greenhouse environmental control systems an asset;
- Current Grower Pesticide Safety Certification, or willingness to take Grower Pesticide Safety Course.
- Available to work after hours and rotating Weekends as required.

- Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work independently as required;
- Good communication skills;
- Team attitude and willingness to seek guidance and collaborate to solve problems on a daily basis;
- Able to work in a professional and cooperative manner with co-workers and management;
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
- **Working Conditions **_
- Ability to stand 8+ hours per day;
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs occasionally;
- Ability to push 50-100 lbs frequently;
- Working in a cool/ warm, humid indoor environment with moderate noise level and around moving machinery;
- Must wear steel toe safety shoes/boots

**Salary**: From $20.00 per hour
