At the Ministry and Children and family Development (MCFD) you’ll join a supportive and experienced team of clinicians who bring diverse skills and collaborate closely to provide the best care for children and youth. Our team of five includes four generalists, a part-time Integrated Practice Clinician, and a team leader. You’ll also work with school staff, primary care providers, and other community partners as part of an Integrated Child and Youth Care Team. The Role
As a Children and Youth Mental Health Clinician you’ll provide intake, assessment, and evidence-based treatment for children and youth facing moderate to severe mental health challenges. You’ll collaborate with caregivers and other care providers to create tailored treatment plans, supporting families to reduce symptoms of mental illness and providing a positive impact on the entire community. **Qualifications**:
- Ph.D. in Clinical/Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, OR PsyD, AND *registered with, or eligible for, registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC).
- Note: If you are registered as a Psychologist in another province, equivalencies for out of province applicants may be considered by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC). Please contact the association for registration requirements in BC.
- Note: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Completion of a psychological pre or post-doctoral internship of 1600 hours in a child and youth mental health or hospital setting with specialization in formal psychological assessment, diagnoses, and treatment of mental health disorders.
- Experience in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
Minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
