Detailed Overview: Under the direction from the Manager, Health Services - ER/CCU or designate, transports patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed for and from various departments in the Hospital. Responsibilities:

- Transports patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed to and from various departments in the Hospital.
- Delivers and picks up items as required for nursing units, such as specimens to the Lab., medications to and from the Pharmacy, messenger to the Operating Room.
- Ensures that patient needs are attended to while being transported; obtains emergency assistance as required.
- Assists in lifting and transferring patients to and from stretchers, wheelchairs etc., to bed or table.
- Cleans equipment used in transport such as pumps, IV poles, stretchers; changes linens and reports maintenance requirements for patient transport equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
**Education and Experience**

Grade ten (10) and one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current basic Life Support Level C certificate.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, such as lifting heavy patients and standing/walking for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
