Cleaner (Casual) Emergency Shelter

**Hours & Compensation**:Morning and Daytime hours set based on needs of the building. Available shifts will be discussed during an interview. Pay Rate - $21.341 per hour + 2% in lieu of benefit

**Contributions & Impact**:You will offer ongoing support to clients by performing housekeeping services including (but not limited to):

- cleaning/washing/disinfecting sinks, toilets, tubs, shower rooms, curtains;
- polishing/ cleaning glass, wood, metal surfaces using the suitable oil/polish/solutions;
- replenishing as necessary paper towels, toilet paper, soaps, etc;
- sweeping floors and stairways with brooms and vacuuming carpeted floor areas;
- dusting ceiling corners, surfaces, furniture, etc;
- emptying and cleaning wastebaskets and ashtrays;
- general cleaning of residents’ bed areas (daily) and packing up of residents’ belongings (as required)
- maintaining cleaning cart inventory

You'll also:

- maintain safe and healthy work conditions
- adhere to PPE, infection control and additional cleaning protocols during outbreaks or as required by Government Agencies such as Public Health and Ministry of Labour.
- take appropriate action in the event of building emergency (e.g. fire, floods, violence) and reports potential difficulties with various actions/behaviours of the tenants and/or their guests that would jeopardize the safety and security of the building, the tenants, guests, staff and immediate neighbours
- Provide back-up assistance at other YW locations if required

You have:

- Previous employment in a cleaning services role
- Operated cleaning equipment (floor polisher, carpet cleaner, vacuum, etc.)
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Understanding of general health and safety standards
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff, tenants, and occasionally the public
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level-C (asset)
- Vulnerable Sector Check documentation (required)
