DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be responsible for worker safety, system integrity, customer security and asset records integrity.
- Provide leadership, professional development, and mentorship to team members.
- Ensure GIS infrastructure and performance can support the business needs and make plans for future growth and requirements.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to optimize GIS processes and asset record integrity.
- Plan and schedule work to deliver business outcomes.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives. Work collaboratively with the project teams to manage business expectations and ensure objectives are met.
- Write and evaluate RFx’s, business cases and justification.
- Participate in industry working groups and committees to stay informed of industry best practices.
- Produce documentation and communications to support day-to-day operations and project work.
- Establish, monitor, manage, and report on the department’s operating and capital budgets.
- Establish, monitor, manage, and report on the departments operational KPIs.
- Participate in the definition of strategic measurements for company scorecards, performance contracts, business planning and/or risk management; arrange for data collection required to monitor and report on measures.
- Manage service providers, including contract management/negotiation and escalations to resolve service issues.
- Manage emergent incidents through resolution, coordinating response efforts, managing communications and logistics.
- Other duties as assigned.

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and very strong work ethic.
- Ability to learn and adapt very quickly.
- Ability to work independently or in a small team environment.
- Excellent organization and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at once.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of relevant experience in GIS solutions development, preferably in an electrical utility environment.
- 3-5 years of experience as a supervisory and/or leadership experience
- University Degree related to Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, or a combination of education, training, and experience. A Post graduate degree in a technical field will be an asset. PMP designation will also be an asset. Professional Engineer (PEng) designation is an asset.
- Strong electrical distributions system knowledge and understanding.
- Strong working knowledge of databases.
- Experience in Hexagon G-Technology and NetWorks.
- Experience in Esri’s ArcGIS Desktop and extensions (e.g. schematics, network analyst, spatial analyst).
- Proficient with Esri’s ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online platforms, MS Access, Oracle or SQL Database.
- Understand how to create successful partnerships in a unionized environment. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
