**The Opportunity**:
**This is a temporary position - Ending September 1, 2024**

**As a Lab Analyst you will**:

- Prepare clients samples and quality control (QC) samples for routine analysis using plating and qPCR techniques.
- Maintain QC records and perform quality review of data to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the results.
- Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system to record and document results during the processing of samples.
- Follow SOPs to ensure quality control criteria are met and maintain all documentation that are required for compliance.
- Maintain a positive work environment for lab staff. Support and comply with all Valens policies, Quality System and Health & Safety programs.
- Ensure that deadlines/turn-around time (TATs) are met. Communicate any issues affecting TATs, quality, etc. with the Lab Manager in a timely fashion.
- Be proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies used for routine samples analysis are available in the lab.
- Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager.

**Knowledge and Experience**:

- Completed or working on completing a BSc. in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology) or closely related field.
- Familiarity with using plating and qPCR to perform microbial testing on samples and characterize/identify micro
- organisms such as E. coli, Salmonella, and fungi.
- Skill to accurately test large numbers of samples with reliable repeatability and commitment to achieve good quality work.
- Experience in using LIMS system to record and document experimental activities and samples’ results is an asset.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a fast
- paced, changing environment.

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Kelowna, BC V4V 2K5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
