**Position Title**:Propane Service Tech II

**Team and Location: Brechin, ON/ **Sparlings Propane**

**Position Summary**:The Propane Service Technician interacts with our customers, both residential and commercial, as they install and service an array of Propane dependent items including tanks and appliances. The Propane Service Technician must have a minimum of G2 licensing and everything else will be trained.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Start your day with a team meeting at the branch where together you will discuss the day’s safety topic, review the previous day’s work, share new industry information, review mock scenarios, and any general company communications including upcoming training sessions.
- Review your run for the day and prepare your truck including a pre-trip vehicle inspection (daily, weekly and monthly requirements) and gather materials such as fittings, pipes, materials, tanks etc.
- Working closely with your dispatcher, supervisor and senior technicians, complete all calls in a safe and efficient manner ensuring compliance to all legislative codes, standards and company policies.
- Greet and interact with customers and other business partners in a professional and courteous manner, provide exceptional customer service and work as a team player to ensure the job is complete and correct.
- Work will include piping and tank installs, final connection to pre-installed equipment, appliance installs (such as fireplaces, furnaces, boiler systems, air conditioners, hydronic systems [training provided]), gas check inspections, maintenance cleaning, removal of old propane tanks, service calls for no heat, no hot water, etc. Trenching will be required at times and a service helper is available for work that requires two people.
- Complete invoices on company provided device using Pronto and any applicable forms or checklists depending on call type as soon as call is completed.
- Communicate with dispatcher and supervisor as day progresses to assist other technicians as needed or take a high priority call if required.
- Complete run and all paperwork and head back to branch to unload vehicle, complete post-trip vehicle inspection and ensure vehicle is left clean.
- Assist team with monthly propane bulk plant inspections to ensure safe and operational status, includes inspecting and testing bonding, fittings, emergency procedures, signage etc.
- Participate in all training and career development activities and ensure your knowledge of industry standards include TSSA Standards and CSA B149 Code remains current.
- Actively engage in company safety policies and procedures including the use of all company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as trained without exception.
- Report any unsafe acts when viewed or identified including accidents, near-misses, and general safety concerns.
- The training Parkland provides is extensive and includes Propane Pump Attendant Training, Cylinder Inspection, Liquid Propane Endorsement Training and Canadian Propane Association Training amongst many other safety topics. Employees are required to undertake all prescribed trainings and assistance in obtaining G1 licensing is available to those who want to advance their career

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills required.
- Team player and effective contributor to team goals is required.
- G2 certification is the minimum requirement, everything else is trained by Parkland.
- **G1 licensed applicants encouraged to apply**:

- Previous appliance installation experience is an asset but not required.
- Able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs occasionally.
- Comfortable with the physical and outdoor nature of the job.
- Able to work a flexible schedule and on-call when needed.
- G license required, DZ license is an asset.
- Clean Drivers Abstract and/or CVOR, both in Good Standing.
