Floral Express is a fast paced Flower Wholesaler who are dedicated to providing the best quality product to our customers in the U.S., Maritimes and the GTA.

**You will perform the following duties**:
**Financial Management**
- Responsible for the financial accountability of the operations and maintenance department budgets.
- Communicate and collaborate with departmental leaders to stay abreast of spending, budgeting, forecasting, reports, and evaluation
- Develop and implement strategies around improving the financial performance of all warehouse departments.
- Monitor financial performance to ensure the department is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment.
- Analyze variable cost and make budget adjustments as appropriate.
- Analyze and report on the daily, monthly, and annually department’s key performance indicators and industry trends.
- Provide general counsel to the president on all business and financial matters.

**Staff Management**
- Plan, Staff, and supervise all assigned work units’ activities through other managers to ensure a cohesive operational unit.
- Provide advice, guidance, and direction to other managers toward their professional development
- Coordinate and confer with professional staff to resolve operating problems and difficulties, and authorize departmental operational procedures within framework
- Ensure that new employees are trained and oriented as appropriate for their new positions; performing follow-up sessions to ensure their proper fit within the company
- Manage the instruction of new hires on policies and procedures, and the completion of all forms.
- Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve warehouse performance.
- Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary.
- Manage in conjunction with the other departments, the scheduling and performance of annual employee performance reviews
- Meet regularly with department heads unit leaders; facilitates resolution of issues/problems between business units and/or departments.
- Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures
- Act as needed, in the absence of the president
- Oversee compliance with Floral Express’ Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and recommend additions to, and/or modifications to the Human Resource team

**Inventory/Product Management**
- Oversee production and inventory management departments
- Oversee daily operations to ensure order procurement, analyzing and reporting all data to appropriate departmental representative.
- Examine reports (e.g. inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities of the company and ensure optimum performance.
- Supervise daily activities of managers assigned to the Inventory and product quality control section.
- Manage effective use of property
- Create and implement inventory control measures for cycles of incoming and outgoing orders with relevant partners.
- Create and implement product quality measures for both incoming an outgoing perishable product supply line that supports Floral Express’ quality commitment level.

**Qualifications**
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree (preferably in a technical field) or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years production management experience.
- Experience in quality assurance best practices.
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills - able to properly identify key problems & opportunities and think laterally to find the most appropriate solutions.
- A solid understanding of personnel management best practices.
- Forklift operation skills.
- Driver’s license for truck operations.
- Personal attributes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, with a keen sense of time management
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Action and results orientation with ownership of accountability

**Position Details**
- This is a broad scope position across several operational functions in a relatively small company. The various functions have different emphasis depending on the day of the week.
- This is a full-time position.
- Work days include Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays.
- **Must be able to stay until the job is complete.**
