The Purchaser is responsible to ensure that proper processes are followed throughout the Region. The incumbent is involved in the daily aspects of
procurement in a health care setting and is responsible for a group of commodities requiring technical and product knowledge. The incumbent is
responsible for purchasing materials, equipment and services for clinical and operations departments aiming to assure the supply of items for
business continuity, product quality, delivery times and pricing accuracy. The incumbent acts as a liaison between vendors and end users regarding
product concerns. The Purchaser assists with improving and maintaining the efficiency of the department, performance of any clerical duties and
assists in project affecting the department as required. The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/Vulnerable Person,
Child Abuse Registry check and Adult Abuse Registry check, and adhere to all Northern Health Region policies and procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary Education in related discipline (other combinations of education and experience may be considered)
- Enrolment in recognized Supply Chain Management Certification/ Designation Program is an asset
- Valid Manitoba Class V driver’s license
- Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in related roles
- One (1) year recent procurement experience with responsibility for making commitments via Purchase Order
- Two (2) years’ experience working in a computerizes office environment
- Courses in medical terminology, product acquisitions, public purchasing, management distribution and inventory management an asset
- Understanding of the concepts of Supply Chain Management and how they impact the organization
- Knowledge of health care related supplies and equipment an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of the geographical characteristics/ challenges and transportation links within the Region
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- W.H.M.I.S. certification
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills through clear communication and positive behavior within the Respectful Workplace Policy
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
- Ability to respect and promote a cultural diverse population
- Must be able to adapt easily to change
