**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Social Work, Psychology or closely related field
- 2-3 years Front Line experience and 2 years’ experience in the field of addictions or mental health
- Solid working knowledge of the health system and community agencies in the City of Red Deer and Central Alberta
- Basic Life Saving Level C
- Current Criminal Record Check, Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Working knowledge of SPDAT, ETO and Microsoft Programs

Being persistent and personable is vital for this role. 8:30 - 4:30, Monday - Friday.

**Job Duties**
- Engage with clients in encampments.
- Know housing system within Red Deer.
- Be able to complete consent forms and VI-SPDAT.
- Locate clients who are in need of support services, and who otherwise would not seek assistance.
- Provide an ethical, efficient and therapeutic approach to dealing with crisis intervention in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuineness to all clientele.
- Provide support services (as required), to clients who present a unique and often different set of values, behaviors and challenges.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Transport clients when appropriate.
- Treat all clients with dignity and respect.
- Maintain files, case notes and daily stats.
- Record daily work on SOET
- Communicate with the Outreach Manager on a daily basis, and update information as required.
- Liaison with community agencies to fulfill program needs.
- Participate in evaluation of the project as required.
- Collaborate with the other programs within Safe Harbour Society as required.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Act in a professional, non-judgmental, discreet and caring manner with all clients and serve as a role model.
- Provide immediate response to distress or crisis situations

**Job Requirements**
- Support the Mission Statement and the Seven Stars We Steer By
- Diploma in Social Sciences, Mental Health & Addictions, Community Support Worker, or equivalent.
- Experience in Crisis Counseling and/or Outreach work.
- A desire to work with the socially disadvantaged.
- An ability to respect all clients and treat them with dignity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Community Development and Resources.
- Understanding of issues related to mental health needs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have a clean driving record and be able obtain class 5 license.
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment

**Work Conditions**
- Consistent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting.
- Attendance of appropriate training and all staff functions.
- Some lifting may be required.
- Dealing with a homeless population who may have complex mental health issues.
- Unpredictable behavior of homeless clients.
- High levels of stress and pressure.
- Occasional overtime.

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
