Full/Part Time: 0.8 to 1.0 FTE (4 or 5 days per week): One (1) opening

The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer.

The applicant must hold a dental degree and have extensive clinical experience providing dental treatment for children as a general dentist or a dental specialist in pediatric dentistry. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in coordinating and teaching pre-clinical and clinical dental courses/modules/clinics. Involvement in course administration of quality assurance in the clinical care is an asset. A record of producing high-quality didactic material and high-quality teaching acknowledged by teaching awards would be beneficial.

Additional responsibilities include the following:

- Oversees and is responsible for the conduct of the DMD Paediatric Dentistry Modules.
- Develops appropriate module objectives that support the DMD Competency Document.
- Develops appropriate assessment measures and grading schemes, and advises students at the beginning of the Module via a published syllabus how grades will be determined.
- Develops a module schedule within the time and dates made available for the module in the year’s timetable.
- Develops teaching material, including syllabus, lecture material, reference lists and readings and communicates this to students.
- Coordinates, calibrates and provides orientation for instructors in the module.
- Sets, invigilates and grades assignments and exams.
- Meets with students as needed to discuss their progress and any module issues or concerns.
- Annually updates the module objectives and competencies, schedule, teaching material and grading schemes.
- Marks and submits to Program Assistant grades for student assignments or exams.
- Attends Academic Progress meetings to speak to student performance in the module.
- Provides documentation as required in support of failing grades.
- Prepares, invigilates and grades supplemental exams approved by the Faculty Academic Progress Committee.
- Works closely with the Faculty responsible for DMD Paediatric Dentistry, The Director of the DMD curriculum, other DMD module coordinators, and the clinic director.
