A Culinary professional who is committed to providing an outstanding experience to our Retirement Residence and guests. The Incumbent will work alongside Food Service Supervisor to meet and strive to exceed operations standards, food quality, service presentation, and health and safety compliance. This role is both a supervisory and working Cook/ Dietary Aide position where the incumbent cooks as well as supervises the preparation and delivery of all food services, working on a rotating schedule including weekends.
- **Qualifications**:_

**1.** Food & Beverage Management qualifications and/or experience
**2.** Experience in quantity food preparation.
**3.** Ability to direct and supervise other dietary staff while on duty.
**5.** Willing to actively pursue personal and professional development.
**6.** Working knowledge of Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Sanitation Code, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health Inspections.
**7.** Free of communicable diseases.

**Functions**:
**1.** In the absence of Food Service Supervisor function according to Job Description of Food Service Supervisor
**2. **When working in the role of Cook function according to Job Description of Cook
**3.**In the absence of the Food Service Supervisor assume responsibility for the department as required in an on-call capacity.
**4.**Understands the Retirement Homes Act, ORCA Standards, Emergency Policies and Department Manuals, and Food Handling Course
**5.** Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating to the Code of Conduct and Company policies.
**6.** In consultation with the Dietary Manager, responsible for management of menus and ordering food and dietary supplies

a) Assist Food Service Supervisor with the ordering of all food products and other products required by the dietary department

b) Responsible for the control, reporting and management of the dietary inventory

c) Implement regular, therapeutic and alternate menus based on Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating, current resident population and special seasonal events, under Direction of contracted Dietician services.

d) Ensure the use of standardized recipes. Oversee meal preparation and, if necessary, participate in its preparation. Supervise meal service to ensure appropriate portion control and resident acceptance.

e) Ensure customer service is being met

f) Responsible for the completion of production sheets and dietary assessments according to regulation

g) Responsible for planning special events with the activity department

h) Responsible for handling staffing issues and employee evaluations

8. Report any concerns regarding an individual’s cognitive, emotional, psycho-social or physical health to Director of Care.
9. Reports incidents, accidents, hazardous situations or unsafe equipment promptly to the Facility Superintendent
10. Ensure the dining room area is maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly manner at all times.
- **Dress Requirements**:_

Clean West Shore Village uniform shirt as designated by management
Long sleeves are permitted under scrub top and must be able to be “pushed up” to elbow length
Black, Dark Blue, or Grey pants - no jeans, no leggings, no yoga pants
Scrubable, slip resistant closed toe shoes
Minimal amount of jewellery
Hair should be clean and neat, shoulder length hair should be tied back when performing personal care, and a hair net should be worn when in the dining room/kitchen
Name Tag
No nail polish or artificial nails
Minimal scented products
