**General Responsibilities**:

- Consistently produce impactful stories on climate change, including features and breaking news, but be ready to jump into others beats like courts and crime as needs arise.
- Produce original content for all CP platforms, including online, print, audio and video
- Generate original story ideas, projects and exclusives, with a particular eye on how marginalized communities are coping with the climate-related impacts
- Work creatively and concisely under tight deadline pressure in a digital environment
- Come up with new and creative ways to tell stories on all platforms
- Excellent news judgement and an ability to generate compelling stories from scientific material, experts, officials and as well as personal voices
- Demonstrated self-starter
- Ability to explain the significance of emerging data on climate change to a general audience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to produce lively, clean, and engaging wire-ready copy and an openness to working with editors when changes are required
- Familiarity with CP Stylebook and Caps and Spelling

**Reporter-rédacteur(trice) affecté(e) au climat (Bureau de l’Ontario), TP**

Le bureau de l’Ontario de La Presse Canadienne entend embaucher un(e) reporter à plein temps à Toronto dont la principale responsabilité sera de couvrir les impacts des changements climatiques. La personne choisie aura fait ses preuves en matière de reportage sur le climat et sera capable de décrire comment les phénomènes liés au climat - des conditions météorologiques extrêmes aux incendies de forêt - imposent des changements dans la manière dont les Canadiens gèrent leur vie quotidienne. Elle fera également partie du bureau de l’Ontario de la PC et sera affectée aux nouvelles d’actualité générale selon les besoins de l’équipe.

**Responsabilités générales**:

- Produire systématiquement des articles percutants sur les changements climatiques, y compris des documentaires et des nouvelles de dernière heure, tout en étant prêt à couvrir d'autres sujets, comme les tribunaux et la criminalité, en fonction des besoins.
- Produire du contenu original pour toutes les plateformes de la PC, y compris les services écrit, en ligne, audio et vidéo.
- Générer des idées d'articles originaux, des projets et des exclusivités, en accordant une attention particulière à la façon dont les communautés marginalisées font face aux impacts liés au climat.
- Travailler de manière créative et concise en respectant des délais serrés dans un environnement numérique.

**La personne choisie devra**:

- Proposer de nouvelles façons innovatrices de faire des reportages sur toutes les plateformes.
- Avoir un excellent jugement journalistique et la capacité de réaliser des reportages captivants à partir de matériel scientifique, ainsi que de témoignages d'experts, de fonctionnaires et de divers points de vue personnels.
- Faire preuve d’esprit d’initiative.
- Avoir la capacité d’expliquer au grand public la signification des nouvelles données sur les changements climatiques.
- Avoir d’excellentes aptitudes de communication verbale et écrite.
- Avoir la capacité à produire des textes prêts à transmettre qui sont vivants, clairs et attrayants, ainsi que l’ouverture d'esprit nécessaire pour travailler avec les réviseurs lorsque des changements s’imposent.
- Avoir une bonne connaissance des guides de rédaction ‘CP Stylebook’ et ‘Caps and Spelling’
