**Your role**
- Are you an ambitious self-starter and collaborative team player who is passionate about local news and current affairs?
- CBC Edmonton is looking for a creative and dynamic associate producer to help produce original and engaging visual content on our TV, digital and social platforms.
- As someone who lives and breathes the news, you are a critical thinker and an excellent communicator who knows what people are talking about in the community and how to create programming about issues that matter to them. You know how to chase and land interviews, how to write scripts and edit video, and how to drive news stories forward with additional context and analysis. You have strong visual storytelling skills, know how to tailor content for audiences across TV, digital and social, and have a desire to experiment with new forms of visual journalism.
- You also understand the diverse and changing population in Edmonton and northern Alberta, and the importance of reflecting and resonating with all of our communities in the content we deliver. In your work, you will also ensure CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful and immediate.
- Note: This position is part-time. The schedule is four days a week: Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and Monday and Tuesday days.**Key tasks**:

- Contribute to the development of program lineups, including adding or removing items, helping determine priorities, and inputting information pertaining to story format, timing, supers or other relevant directions.
- Collaborate with teams across CBC to source news content relevant to local audiences.
- Write and vet scripts, and edit video.
- Respond quickly to breaking news events as they unfold.
- Distill large amounts of complex information under tight time constraints.
- Pitch well-researched ideas that will engage and inform the audience while deepening our community connections and elevating a range of voices.
- Tailor visual content for audiences across television, digital and social platforms.
- Chase and book interviews and help set the hosts up for success through scripting and background information.
- As necessary, assist in taking television newscasts to air from the control room, including communicating with staff in the field, studio or other locations.
- Coordinate with colleagues across platforms to ensure our visual content has optimum reach
- Present stories on-air as required.

- Ability to generate, pitch and pursue solid story ideas.-
- Proven connection to the communities we serve in and around Edmonton.-
- Strong news judgment and a demonstrated ability to react quickly to breaking news and changing priorities.-
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to chase and follow several stories at once.-
- Strong traditional broadcast writing and video editing skills, and experience working with a program lineup.-
- Knowledge of emerging visual storytelling formats and experience packaging visual content in compelling and innovative ways across platforms.-
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.-
- Experience in graphic design/editing would be an asset.-
- Willingness to embrace change and learn new tasks across all CBC platforms, and a desire to experiment with new visual and digital storytelling formats.-
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with considerable deadline constraints.-
- Ability to forge positive team relationships and keen to work on a team that values collaboration and transparency.-
- Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.-
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a standout colleague.-
- Must possess a valid driver’s license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company, other classes considered an asset.-
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts, late finishes and weekends.-
- University degree or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of recent, related experience in a multiplatform
