**Course number and title**:PSY442Y5 Y - Practicum in Exceptionality in Human Learning

**Course Description**:Seminar and practicum on issues relating to the life-long development of individuals with disabilities. Seminar at UTM; practicum involves supervised placements in schools or social service agencies (80 hours). Course is required for students enrolled in the Exceptionality in Human Learning Specialist program and is available to Psychology Specialists, Majors and Minors on a competitive basis. Course fulfills the 400-level seminar requirement for the Psychology Specialist Program. Admission by academic merit.

**Salary**:(In accordance with CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement):

- $9,182.42 for Sessional Lecturer I
- $9,641.55 for Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term
- $9,826.96 for Sessional Lecturer II
- $10,060.93 for Sessional Lecturer III

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
- Completed doctoral degree in applied area of psychology (clinical, counselling, school, community)
- Clinical/ counselling work experience in school/ social services agency or other community setting
- Demonstrated Scholarship (publications or conference presentations) on disability and related areas
- University Teaching/ TA experience as writing coach for student reflections on field placement experiences
- Experience mentoring trainees in clinical/applied setting
- Understanding of interdisciplinary nature of the field of disability studies and the ability to teach using both medical and social model approaches

The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications and suitability for the position.

**Description of duties**:Preparation and delivery of course content; creation of course material, development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the supervision of teaching assistants for leading tutorials and grading and marking student work; submission of final grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours for student contact outside of scheduled contact hours.
