Spinal Cord Injury Ontario is an expert in the field of spinal cord injury (SCI) community services. Founded in 1945, SCI Ontario’s mission is to “provide peer experiences, education, advocacy, and ongoing services for those impacted by spinal cord injuries.”. Our Vision: Individuals impacted by spinal cord injuries thriving.

Accessible Employment Services at SCIO, supported by Employment Ontario and the Ontario Disability Support Program - Employment Supports, is dedicated to enhancing opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The program offers a comprehensive suite of services for both job seekers and employers.

**The Opportunity**

This is a hybrid position. As part of the Accessible Employment Services team, the full-time summer contract position of Employment Outreach Associate will assist in the areas of employer outreach and building partnerships in various sectors for job placements.

As part of the Canada Summer Jobs program, this position is funded for approximately 35 hours per week for 10 weeks throughout the summer. This position is based out of our provincial office (520 Sutherland Dr, Toronto); however, currently, this position allows the flexibility of hybrid work options (a combination of work-from home and in-office).

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in developing strategies to support outreach and partnerships with other disability service organizations
- Research local agencies, organizations, and associations and contact them to introduce our employment services
- Assist with designing brochures, community newsletters, web pages, and social media content
- Provide information and training to clients on using the disability job board to create a profile and access local jobs
- Perform data entry for employment services and client services
- Attend and assist in scheduled events as needed
- General administrative and other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented, ability to work on several projects simultaneously and demonstrated initiative.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency working in an MS Office environment is essential, including Word, Excel and Internet functions; previous experience in database management is an asset.
- Excellent verbal, written and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact and collaborate with various people at all levels within and outside the organization.
- Ability to act with discretion and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
- Previous experience in non-profit sector/social service sector/rehabilitation field (as an employee or volunteer), an asset
- Ability to travel within the region
- Bilingual (French) considered an asset
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act3; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
