This position will assist the Youth Program Coordinator in the development, coordination and

of Utown & UNA Youth Programs in addition to providing a monthly movie night to the UNA Community.
**OVERALL GOALS FOR THE POSITION** **Facilitate, organize, and supervise programming at WCC, OBCC and Acadia Park.**
- Assist the Youth Programmer in the delivery of pre-teen and youth leadership programs.
- Exemplify leadership qualities and set a positive example for youth.
- Maintain excellent internal and external communication skills.

**ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS** **Facilitate, and coordinate the Pre-teen Leadership program.**
- **Support the delivery of the Youth Leadership program.**:

- Assist the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities, workshops, field trips and events to participants.
- Develop positive relationships with participants and act as a role model and mentor to young people.
- Assist with the participation of youth in community events, programming in community spaces (such as the Old Barn and the Acadia Commons block), service projects within the community, and the promotion of youth activities'
- Assist with the development of youth connections into the broader UBC community.
- Encourage equal participation from youth in Acadia Park and UNA
- Exude leadership skills, empathetic understanding, and interpersonal communication.
- Continuously learn about UNA services in order to answer questions from patrons.
- Be able to provide programming and community centre information to visitors.
- Maintain the cleanliness, general appearance, and good working condition of the youth programming office.
- Assist with room set-up and clean up, as required, for programs, functions, and events.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Runs Family Movie Night once a month in coordination with Youth Program Coordinator.
- Supervises Youth Volunteers
- Able to communicate effectively with a diverse population.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED **Education requirements**:

- Grade 12 minimum preferably enrolled and working towards a post secondary degree in Social Work, Kinesiology, Recreation, Education, and/or Leisure Services.

**Experience requirements**:

- Experience with group management and facilitation skills
- Related volunteer or work experience with children, youth and/or communities including but not limited to summer camps, arts programs, and sports camps
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience working within and/or coordinating cultural, recreation, sport or community leisure services is preferred.
- ActiveNet, Xplore (PerfectMind) or other registration software experience is an asset.

**Job Particulars**

Part-Time Contract Position running from January 3, 2023 - June 30, 2023

**Salary**: $19.00/hr

Hours: 10 - 14 hours a week

Must be available for 10-14 hours per week, with the following breakdown of hours:

- Pre-Teen Leadership Program: Monday, 3:00 pm - 5:30pm
- Youth Leadership Program: Fridays 3:00pm - 6:00pm
- One Youth Drop-in shift in the Youth Centre or availability supporting other youth programs.
- Third Saturday of the month for Family Movie night

**Reports to**: Youth Program Coordinator

**Supervises**: Participants (youth aged 9-18 years old)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Part-time hours: 14 per week

**Salary**: $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Work Location: One location
