Bakery Clerk

**Job Overview**

The Bakery Clerk is responsible for preparing baked products, maintaining display cases, and servicing customers.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**

1. Prepares baked products such as breads, muffins, and sweet goods by assembling from frozen and baking, as well as decorating cakes. Finishes, packages, and labels product according to company standards.

2. Maintains display cases such as bins and shelves by filling them with finished bakery items and replenishing as required in accordance with production sheets.

3. Maintains stock levels of products by unpacking and storing product in a neat and orderly fashion.

4. Serves customers by greeting them, providing product information, responding to requests (e.g., slicing bread) and by responding to their needs, concerns, and inquiries.

5. Ensures compliance with all government legislation and company standards for food safety and health and safety by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation which includes cleaning and disinfecting areas such as preparation, display and storage areas, floors, sinks, and equipment.

6. Assists with administrative duties including preparing supplies and production lists, calculating ingredients, and updating logs.

7. Performs other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic knowledge of bakery products

- Capable of working independently or as part of a team
- Able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job

**Other Job Requirements**
- Lifting and moving weights of 5 - 20 kilograms (e.g., cases of product, baked goods)
- Standing for long periods of time while preparing product or serving customers
- Some bending into display cases / coolers
- Some reaching and lifting of bakery items out of display coolers / cases (e.g., baked goods, cakes)
- Exposure to cool temperatures while working around bakery coolers and refrigerators
- Exposure to heat while working around ovens
- Exposure to chemicals used for cleaning surfaces including display cases, coolers, Lifting and moving weights of 5 to10 kilograms (e.g., cases of deli meats and cheeses)
- Standing for long periods of time while preparing product or serving customers
- Some bending into display cases / coolers
- Some reaching and lifting of deli or bakery items out of display coolers / cases (e.g., meats, cheeses, cakes)
- Exposure to cool temperatures while working around deli / bakery coolers and refrigerators
- Exposure to heat while working around ovens
- Exposure to chemicals used for cleaning surfaces including display cases, coolers, slicer, counterscounters

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 32 per week

**Salary**: $15.50-$17.50 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Weekend availability
