**Vertical Farm Operations Technician - Job Description**

**Role Type: 4-month contract**

**Job Description**:
R&D farm. The Farm Operations Technician will report directly to the Company President and will be responsible for running the day-to-day operations at the R&D farm.

To be successful in this role, you will be:

- Punctual and detail oriented
- Proficient in simple mechanical troubleshooting and comfortable with tools and machinery
- Able to stay focused and positive when performing repetitive tasks such as cleaning and harvesting
- Committed to results and outcomes in a fast-paced environment

**Qualifications**:

- Able to reliably collect data and perform data entry tasks
- Available for on-call duty on weekends from time to time as dictated by the company's needs
- Able to work independently and identify more effective methods of work operation
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Forms)
- Able to operate and calibrate measurement devices, scales, EC/PH meters with training
- Able to stand and walk for long periods
- Able to lift/carry items up to 20kg
- Proficient in spoken and written French/English

**Duties**:

- While at the R&D facility, the Farm Operations Manager will be responsible for the following duties: _
- Perform daily rounds in the grow operation and record various data points in the facility o Identify and address any issues during the daily rounds (i.e. swap malfunctioning equipment, unclog drippers, clear strainers)

Procedures (SOPs) o Draft SOPs as needed, and present for review and approval
- Manage operations of the nursery, including seeding, operating flood tables, and dosing nutrients
- Scout the grow room and nursery for the presence of pests
- Monitor environmental conditions and lighting levels; make adjustments to setpoints as directed by management
- Perform regularly scheduled cleaning throughout the nursery and grow room, and regularly disinfect the harvest and nursery workspace
- On harvest day (once per week), oversee the harvest team and perform key roles; these roles may shift from time to time to test process flow; however, in-scope duties include o Harvesting activities o Harvest Data Collection o Quality control and packaging activities o Cleaning of towers and preparation for transplant o Transplant of young crops for a new crop cycle o Perform data collection activities throughout harvest process

- component of this role and the farm operations manager is expected to: _
- Follow established procedures and guidelines to accurately enter data related to crop production, maintenance, and operations into the company's database system
- Ensure data is up-to-date and regularly maintained - Identify and troubleshoot data discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies in a timely manner to ensure data integrity.
- Generate reports based on data collected to provide insights for management decision making

- The position is located in the greater Montreal, QC area

**Salary**: $36,700.00-$42,800.00 per year
