Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer, the Sustainability Advisor is responsible for designing and leading sustainability initiatives in alignment with current procurement policies and processes, with a view to promoting environmental sustainability to PHSA’s supplier community. The Sustainability Advisor co-ordinates the delivery of the corporate sustainability program and makes recommendations to senior leadership to execute strategies to enhance our approach to sustainability initiatives. The Sustainability Advisor will operationalize environmental sustainability objectives and roadmaps in line with PHSA’s goal of securing a healthier planet for all. In partnership with the HAs, the Sustainability Advisor will engage partners and ensure suppliers and extended supply chain understand the sustainability commitments and develop collaborative roadmaps to implement the external reporting requirements.

**What you’ll do**
- Proactively creates more opportunities available to traditionally underrepresented communities, including working closely with the Indigenous Procurement Advisor.
- Plans and conducts consultations to develop strategies, short-term to long-term plans, and cost/benefit analysis, and make recommendations.
- Acts as the trusted advisor to partners, determining diverse supplier fit, persuading and including a decision that could cost more, demonstrating the value beyond cost savings.
- Accountable to shift the paradigm towards selecting and embracing sustainable suppliers, demonstrating the strategic importance in alignment with PHSA’s current and future vision and business objectives.
- Leads implementation of designated sustainability initiatives and provide support.
- Works collaboratively with other members of the enterprise sustainability committee to create a road map for responsible supply chain.
- Develops and implements a supplier code of conduct.
- Provides public reporting against sustainability targets and track supplier progress towards targets through improvement in data processes and operational management.
- Supports sustainability certification strategy and ensure suppliers are aligned with the sustainability strategy and onboarded on program requirements.
- Drives collective industry action through steering capability building and training, identifying roadblocks, and finding innovative solutions to drive towards shared sustainability challenges.
- Provides analytical support, market research and metrics, supporting strategic initiatives.
- Identifies and communicates emerging trends and sustainability initiatives, partnering with strategic internal and external business partners.
- Builds and presents detailed project plans for sustainability initiatives.
- Provides recommendations to adopt new sustainability processes/procedures in alignment with PHSA’s goals and objectives.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a degree in Business Administration or related and three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in supply chain sustainability or in building corporate sustainability programs.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, and team building orientation. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively among the peer group, partners and the supplier community. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with intermediate to advanced skills in data manipulation and analysis. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships. Self-directed, highly motivated, results-oriented and able to motivate others. Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment. Ability to prioritize and organize work in a rapidly changing work environment. Ability to utilize personal computers having an intermediate level knowledge of related business software (word processing, spreadsheet, database).
