To ensure the continuous running of the looms by maintaining proper running conditions of the looms, conducting preventive maintenance during warp outs, and ensuring that the crew operates within established standards in a safe and efficient manner.

The Loom Fixer works a 12-hour rotational shift with the majority of their time spent on repairs and troubleshooting through seeking advice or guidance from the supervisor, co-workers, or fellow team members.

Shifts schedules are from 8 am - 8 pm and 8 pm - 8 am. Employees work 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week for a 42-hour average work week.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Read diagrams, schematic drawings and corporate preventative maintenance program to determine work procedures, diagnose, troubleshoot and propose correction actions.
- Check, test, adjust, replace, install and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment (looms) parts such as shuttles, shuttle feeders, weft breaks, openers, scissors, panels, clutch, brake bands, gears and belts using hand and power tools.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions and take corrective action for identified problems such as skewing, telescoping, tight or loose ends and uneven weave.
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts, such as attending to warp breaks, shuttle jams, dropped picks and conveyor jams.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
- Conduct warp-outs by directing preventative maintenance and cleaning on the picking and receiving units, replacing brake bands on older looms, starting the loom after the tie-in is completed, and checking the loom for proper style. Conducts style changes as instructed; this may include changing or adjusting the reed, length, cloth support, telescopic shaft, guide teeth pick count, speed, or torsion rod.
- Provide and receive instructions from supervisors, contractors, colleagues, management, etc. to implement production changes, process work orders, process installations, do test runs, prepare for shift changes, train new employees, review quality of work, etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Grade 12 or equivalent required
- Vocational training and/or education in industrial machinery repair, Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Welding, Fitting or a similar trade, and/or têxtile specific training/education in Weaving or machinery repair
- 1+ year experience as a loom fixer or equivalent in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- A combination of education and years of experience may be considered.
- Strong electro-mechanical skills in relation to loom operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Good mathematical ability
- Experience conducting quality assurance tests in relation to size, product, and yardage
- Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and proposing preventative measures for industrial equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Possesses sound judgement and problem-solving skills in relation to troubleshooting, quality assurance, and proposing corrective measures according to IPG’s preventative maintenance policies
- Familiarity with Sulzer flat looms is considered an asset
