Summer Student

We are looking for Summer Students who can provide intergenerational programming while gaining valuable skills in long term care. You will work alongside professionals, who will provide ample opportunities for learning and valuable exposure in the Long Term Care.

The Summer Student role is responsible for providing **non-care related** support to residents. Please see below for a full list of role responsibilities. For clarity, the Summer Student does not provide personal care at any time, this includes bathing, toileting, and personal grooming.

**Availability**:
Weekdays, and some weekends are mandatory

**What you will be doing**:

- Providing assistance to residents during mealtime
- Portering residents to activities or meals
- Tidying resident closets and drawers as requested
- Providing one-on-one or small group visiting programs to offer companionship to a resident, sit with and do an activity of resident choice
- Assisting with the distribution of snacks
- Assisting Programs staff in running daily social activities
- Assisting in cleaning and disinfection of resident side tables, wheelchairs and walkers and other areas as assigned
- Assisting Programs staff in running daily social activities
- Screening visitors
- Logging and documenting Attendance for each program
- Other special projects and duties as required

**What we need from you**
- A great attitude
- Patience and good communication skills
- Familiar with Google Suite
- Excellent customer service skills
- Prepared to work in an environment with COVID-19 present
- Either be enrolled in/or recently graduated from a relevant college or university program
