**Role**:

- The Technician - Control is responsible to provide technical services and support, installing, repairing, maintaining, inspecting and troubleshooting electrical control systems, instrumentation and electronic apparatus,to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of the Canal system and structures.**Responsibilities**:

- Install, repair, maintain, inspect, test and troubleshoot a variety of electrical systems and equipment (such as Programmable Logic Controllers, Variable Speed Drives, Soft Starters, relay logic systems, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, navigation systems, fire protection systems, security systems, microwave systems, breakers, wiring, transformers and circuitry).
- Compile test data for and produce technical reports on various control systems, power systems and communication systems.
- Perform work in accordance with applicable Electrical codes and/or Engineering/Technical specifications.
- Maintain electrical equipment, according to the preventive maintenance program.
- Respond efficiently and effectively to electrical service calls.

**Experience and knowledge**:

- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years related practical technical experience.
- Fully autonomous skills in all aspects of Programmable Logic Controllers, motor drives, field devices, generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, and Remote and Operator Controlled Navigation Systems.
- Skilled in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all electrical equipment below 750V.
- Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, regulations, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties.

**Education**:

- College Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Technology

**Certifications**:

- Provincial Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician (309-A Construction and Maintenance Electrician License or non-apprenticed 442-A license - ON)
- Eligible for certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists or with l'Ordre des technologues professionnelles du Québec
- Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver's license and insurable driving record

**Projected start date**:05/08/2023

**Hours of work**:40 per week

**Pay Grade**: O&M 7

**Salary**:
Step 1 : 41.15/hour
Step 2 : 43.74/hour
