**About the Opportunity**:
The Pathology Assistant performs the initial handling, dissection and gross examination of surgical and autopsy tissue; dictating and documenting findings, as well as directing, selecting and submitting appropriate tissue for pathological diagnosis. Pathologist Assistants are allied health professionals and are able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, histology and basic pathology.

Pathologist Assistants increase the efficiency of the surgical and autopsy pathology service to allow the pathologists more time to concentrate on microscopic diagnoses. The Pathology Assistant may be required to perform the autopsy prosection itself; procuring appropriate tissues and organs, dissecting tissues and submitting the required tissue for pathological diagnosis.

**About You**:

- Graduate of an approved MSc Pathologist Assistant program or CAP certification preferred; or a graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program with a minimum of four years progressive experience in a Pathology Laboratory
- Preference will be given to technologists with formal or hands-on training and experience in grossing procedures
- Must be eligible for licensure with NSCMLT and certification with CSMLS
- Experience with Meditech preferred
- Previous background in anatomy, physiology, histology, pathology and medical terminology
- Must have demonstrated customer service skills; leadership skills; excellent organization and technical skills; as well as good decision-making skills
- Ability to work both independently/unsupervised and in a team oriented environment
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

**Hours**:

- Long Assignment, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Beginning as soon as possible for approximately 16 months

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$33.73 - 40.94 hourly
