Maple Trails is a special place; we do things a little differently than other kennels and don’t consider ourselves in competition. We are very selective with the pups we accept and select them by temperament as we keep them in one large pack. Our packs range from 30-45 pups depending on the day. We have anywhere from 3lb pups to 135lb pups in the pack and as young as 8 weeks old. Many of the pups have grown up here.

As working in a pack, we need to be confident, assertive and calm at all times. The ability to manage stress, multitasking, communication skills, and excellent customer service skills.

While the position is fun, playing with pups, taking pictures, and an enjoyable mature atmosphere, (check out our Facebook page) there is also hard work - ensuring cleanliness and care of the pups is maintained throughout the shift. You will be outside for your shift no matter the weather conditions.

Previous pup care work experience or pup behaviour courses are considered an asset.

**Job Summary**

**Pup care**
- Receiving pups at drop off, storing pup’s belongings, preparing lunches if supplied, departing pups, gathering belongings speaking with clients
- Playing and interacting with pups of all sizes and breeds both indoors and outdoors.
- Overseeing group play assisting with new pup assessments and introductions, taking pups for walks on trails.
- Overseeing and assisting with general care tasks such as feeding and cleaning of the pups, assisting with cleaning and opening and closing duties.
- Keep records of pups feedings, treatments, and other updates
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stay on your feet all day, and be able to bend over or squat for various cleaning tasks.
- Collection and disposal of pet waste
- Cleaning of the facilities to maintain a healthy environment, sanitizing of food and water bowls, laundry of blankets, beds and towels

**Qualifications**
- **Dependable.** Working with live animals you must show up for your expected shifts and show up ready to work.
- **Patient.** Some dogs are noisy, some are strong, some haven’t mastered their manners. You must be level headed and keep a calm atmosphere.
- **Quick learning.** Knowing dogs’ names, behaviors and owners is very beneficial for you and others working with you.
- **Strong Work Ethic**. You must take pride in your work, with cleaning standards set in place. You must be willing to work hard and well.
- **Friendly,** approachable, professional and energetic. Fast paced environment and the shifts are busy. Most of this shift is spent on one’s feet monitoring the playgroups and cleaning the facility.
- **Communication**. Be an effective communicator both orally and written. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
- **Physically Fit**. able to lift up to 50 pounds, stay on your feet all day, and be able to bend over or squat for various tasks.

**Hours**:Shifts range from 7am to 8pm so a flexible schedule is a must. Weekends and holidays are required as we have pups in our care 365 days a year.

**Part time employees**:Available to work at least 2-3 shifts including weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 0-40 per week

**Salary**: From $15.50 per hour
