The day to day responsibilities of the Foreman/Carpenter include:

- Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew
- Coordinate and perform daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery and personnel
- Physical delivery and administration of general and daily responsibilities
- Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
- Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
- Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
- Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
- Complete safety and job-related paperwork as delegated by the Superintendent
- Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on site quickly and amicably
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve site operations and communication
- Report project status to supervisors, site engineers and officials regularly

What we’re looking for on the resume:

- Proven experience as a construction foreman and in an on-site working supervisor role
- At least 5 years experience in the commercial construction industry
- Demonstrated skills in building an organized team and in facilitating goal accomplishment with strategies and plans
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OHS guidelines
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to communicate and report effectively
- Confidence delegating responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors
- Adaptable and quick thinking in high pressure situations
- Problem-solving abilities
- Good physical condition and stamina
- High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.)
- Journeyman Carpenter Ticket is an asset. 3rd and 4th year Apprentice Carpenters will be considered if you have sufficient experience.
