**Job Summary**:
As a Companion in healthcare, your role is to provide social support, companionship, and assistance to individuals in need, promoting their emotional well-being and enhancing their quality of life. You will engage in meaningful interactions, offer companionship, and provide a sense of comfort and security to individuals who may be isolated, lonely, or facing health challenges. This role requires empathy, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to create a positive and engaging environment for the individual.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Companionship: Engage in conversations, active listening, and friendly interactions with the individual, providing emotional support and a sense of companionship.

2. Emotional Support: Offer empathy, compassion, and understanding to the individual, helping them cope with any emotional challenges they may be facing.

3. Recreational Activities: Plan and engage in recreational activities, hobbies, and outings that align with the individual's interests and capabilities, promoting social engagement and mental stimulation.

4. Mealtime Assistance: Provide assistance during mealtime, including meal planning, preparation, and dining support, ensuring the individual receives proper nutrition and hydration.

5. Medication Reminders: Assist the individual with medication reminders, ensuring they take their medications as prescribed and adhere to their medication schedule.

6. Light Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying up living spaces, organizing personal belongings, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.

7. Errands and Appointments: Accompany the individual to appointments, outings, or social activities, offering transportation and assistance as needed.

8. Safety Monitoring: Keep a watchful eye on the individual's well-being and safety, identifying and addressing any potential hazards or concerns in the living environment.

9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of activities, observations, and any significant changes in the individual's mood, behavior, or health, as required by the healthcare organization or agency.

10. Communication: Communicate with the individual's family members, healthcare professionals, and other caregivers to provide updates on the individual's well-being and share any relevant information.

**Qualifications and Skills**:
1. Compassionate and empathetic nature, strong interpersonal and communication skills.

2. Vulnerable Sector Police Check and

3. TB Test - Medical Report (within 6 months)

4. Valid First AID and CPR level C

5. Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with individuals requiring companionship.

6. Patience, understanding, and the ability to actively listen.

7. Respect for diversity and cultural differences.

8. Reliability, punctuality, and professional demeanor.

9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.

10. Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.

11. Physical stamina to assist with mobility and perform tasks that may involve standing or walking.

12. Flexibility to adapt to the individual's needs and preferences.

13. Prior experience in caregiving, companionship, or a related field is preferred.

Part-time hours: 40 per week

**Salary**: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
