Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP’s global portfolio. Jansen’s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa.
- Work LocationThis role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK initially working a 40-hour week on a Monday to Friday work schedule. Aligned with the commissioning and operation of the shafts, this role will transition into a leadership role working an equal time roster (days and nights) supervising a shaft crew. The accountability will continue to increase to include supervision of both Jansen Shafts and the associated crews.
- As this role is not eligible for accommodation in the site camp, the incumbent must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Jansen site. BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.- PurposeReporting to the Superintendent Shaft Operations and Logistics, the Shaft Supervisor will be part of the future Operations Team based at the Jansen Site. The Shaft Supervisor will be part of the team responsible for the development of all necessary systems, processes, and work procedures to ensure the safe successful transition from construction to operation of the Jansen Shafts. Once in operation, the Shaft Supervisor will lead all daily Shaft activities as planned, effectively manage employees in the department and promote safe work practices.
- About the RoleIn this role, you will:

- Be part of the team developing operational work procedures and processes for the Jansen Shaft operations.
- Support the Operational Readiness handover/transition from the Project team to BHP Operations.
- Assist to onboard and supervise hoist operators and shaft crews to operate the Jansen shafts.
- Be accountable for the daily operation of the shafts ensuring people, materials, and equipment are safely transported while maximizing hoisted tonnes to support the Jansen Project critical execution path.
- Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework, and build a risk-aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Identify, engage, and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Leverage technology, data, and experience to evaluate problems and identify solutions.
- About You- An overriding commitment to health, safety, and environment.
- Trade or Operations background and/or bachelor’s degree in engineering with relevant levels of work experience in mining or construction.
- Previous Mine Shaft operations or maintenance experience an asset.
- Applicable experience in the mining industry, preferably potash.
- Aptitude for translating technical documents and drawings into straightforward operator instructions.
- Ability to anticipate, mitigate and confidently resolve potential problems within and across teams.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to respond to tight deadlines, significant workloads, and changing priorities.
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, with an aptitude for collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
