The Procurement Services Branch is looking for a highly motivated and experienced analyst to join our team. As a Category Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the Category Management program, which aims to drive cost efficiencies and improve performance through grouping common purchases into categories and using data-driven insights to streamline purchasing practices.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager of Reporting and Analytics, you will dissect complex data and provide data-driven insights to drive strategic decisions.

**Specific responsibilities of the Category Analyst role include (but are not limited to)**:
**Category Analysis - **You will analyze procurement data to identify trends, cost saving opportunities and process improvements. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to optimize procurement strategies.

**Market Research and Analysis -** You will conduct market research to identify supply and demand trends, best practices and pricing benchmarks, and monitor changes in relevant markets, categories, and industries.

**Performance Measurement -** You will develop and track performance measures that support the realization of category benefits and improvements and monitor supplier and contract performance.

**Reporting and Visualization -** You will create and maintain customized reports and dashboards to communicate insights and recommendations and monitor progress towards strategic goals. Present data in a clear and visually appealing manner to support decision making.

**To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate**:

- Strong data analysis skills: ability to manipulate and manage large datasets, and find patterns and trends
- The ability to communicate complex concepts and analyses to stakeholders with varying levels of expertise and knowledge
- Proficiency in using strategic analysis tools (i.e., Porter’s 5 Forces, Should-cost modeling, and others)
- Capacity to conduct market research, supplier benchmarking and identifying and implementing performance measures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically, while ensuring exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL or Alteryx, and data visualization software (i.e., Power BI)
- Working knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management and category management principles
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and lead working sessions

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in a related field (such as Business, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics) plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience, such as data analytics or procurement analytics, or equivalent as described below.

**Preference will be given to the following Assets**:

- Experience conducting cost/data/spend analysis to inform procurement strategies
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization software, such as Power Query, Power BI, or Alteryx
- Certifications in data analysis, supply chain management or related areas (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, Certified Supply Chain Professional, or Lean Six Sigma certification)
- Experience using Ariba supply chain management software

**Equivalencies**:

- High School Diploma plus 6 years directly related experience
- One-year related certificate plus 5 years related experience
- Two-year diploma plus 4 years related experience

**Notes**:
**Hours of Work**: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

**Location**: Oxbridge Place, 9820 106th Street, Edmonton, AB This position is required to be in office, however Hybrid work options may be available (3 days in office, 2 days working from home).
