**WHY DO WE NEED YOU?**
As a key member of the Canadian Roofing Leadership team, the BU Controller will play a crucial role in the financial direction of the division. This position is fully responsible for the financial controlling and analytical functions for actual, forecasted, and budgeted financial performance. Additionally, the role supports revenue strategy formulation and manages projects tied to strategic initiatives with the BU Roofing GM. The BU Controller also leads the monthly financial review (MFR) for all Canadian Roofing products.
The position oversees the development of the annual budget, 3 Month Estimates, and contributes to the preparation of long-range business plans and rolling forecasts. It reviews monthly financial results for accuracy, ensuring all business-related information is disclosed to the GM and Canadian CFO. Responsibilities include analyzing the P&L and Balance Sheet and reviewing reserve requirements with SSC Accounting & Reporting, Risk Management, Legal, and Credit Departments.
The BU Controller ensures proper internal controls at all business facilities and oversees the entire finance team of the Canadian Roofing division, including plant controllers, reporting managers, and general analysts. The role provides guidance and leadership, fostering a talented team and strong succession planning for the Roofing business. The position supervises three direct reports responsible for distribution business, Roofing operations, and financial reporting and analysis, along with their respective teams.
**Management of Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting Process**
- Build budget and forecast models and work with Management team to develop assumption key KPI’s
- Includes Annual plan, RF forecasts Long Range plans, monthly reporting and short-term forecasts.
- Establish in conjunction with the other finance team members sales and expenses plans collaborating with the various different divisions
- Direct the preparation of executive-level financial presentations for discussion with senior Business leaders in CertainTeed & Saint-Gobain.
- Work with leadership to create and implement course correction/enhancement. Support insights with business analysis and fact-based decisions for the Canadian Roofing business.
- Complete responsibility for the Business Unit's (and all related Lines of Business) analysis of results for CertainTeed/BP portfolio of products in Canada. Work with members of the management team to identify critical business issues and establish corrective actions. Responsible for establishing internal analytical requirements based on the business requirements.
- Work with the functions to understand business results through P&L analysis, trends, earnings variation, mix and various ad-hoc analyses.
- Ensure compliance of the internal controls with the business and sites, roll out the ICRF manual to the group and provide guidance and leadership to the team in the area.
- Support timely and accurate SIF submissions in Magnitude to the parent company, especially relative to Budget and Actualizations.
**IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?** Decision Support and Other Duties**
- While working with the other members of the management team, this position will develop or direct the development of special analysis required to make critical business decisions. Collaborate with other staff members and other departments to determine best course of actions for the business. These analyses include:
- Competitor analysis of financial and operational results
- Costing studies by site
- Review of all appropriation requests exceeding $25,000 to ensure that such projects are financially justified.
- Application of complex accounting and valuation concepts to support financial decision making, (ex. fixed asset and goodwill Impairments, capital leases, valuation reserves.)
**Internal Control**
- The position is responsible for working with operations management to ensure a system of proper internal controls is in place at all facilities of the business as well as for the corporate functions. Annual Self Assessment will be required, and GAPS identified with GAP closure plans put in place. Other audit processes ie: peer-audit programs for plants are encouraged to ensure consistency of processes and policies are followed. Action plans will be created on larger GAPS with clearly defined action plans to mitigate the identified deficiency.
