Sarnia, Canada Vision Nursing and Rest Home Full time

The Accounting/ HR Clerk works under the HRM and the Accounting Supervisor, in a clerical supportive role, to ensure pertinent workload of both departments is up to date.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. The accounting records are processed through a variety of computer programs to meet the needs of Vision '74 Inc.; Microsoft Great Plains, PointClickCare, KLM Software.

2. Prepare accounts payable by compiling and confirming purchases by matching packing slips, purchase order and invoices from suppliers. Follow-up on any items requiring signatures or corrections. Issue cheques for approved invoices. File paid invoices. Verify supplier statements.

3. Preparation of cheques for current accounts payable on a weekly basis and statutory remittances to the Receiver General, Treasurer of Ontario and other regulatory agencies on a timely basis.

4. Prepare Union Dues Report, Pension Reports, and other miscellaneous deductions for payment processing on the 15th of the month following.

5. Monthly resident Billing

7. Monthly resident billing adjustments and funds in transfer.

8. Ensures that non-insured Services are authorized, tracked, recorded, and charged to residents.

9. Ensures all financial records and documents are held in the strictest of confidence.

**Payroll and HR related Duties (Back-Up to HR Assistant)**

1. Fluent in all areas of the group benefit plans provided to various unions, non-union, and Administrative staff.

2. Processing of Payroll.

3. Monitor and pay claim submissions for eyeglass coverage which (Vision self-insured) is paid as a non-taxable benefit through payroll.

4. Printing of letters awarding employees new classifications as a result of an internal posting. Offer letter to be signed by Dept. Supervisor and forwarded to employee. Second copy to employee file.

5. Attendance Management Tracking - Tracking sick time and using SSC to produce the appropriate attendance codes reports supporting the attendance management minutes and meeting.

6. Producing the Attendance Management Letters using the appropriate templates provided by the HRM

7. Tracking probation hours for all new employees and setting up the appropriate performance evaluations and due dates.

**Working Conditions**:
Office atmosphere with considerable periods of concentrated visual attention to documents and video display terminal. Challenges posed by interruptions of tasks by staff, residents and/or family members. Required to sit in one place for an extended period of time.

**Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Education Required**:
1. Business diploma with a community college level with a focus on accounting and HR.

2. Must be computer literate through past experience or training with formal training on accounting and payroll related programs.

3. Good written and oral communication skills.

4. Good leadership, motivational and time management skills.

5. Previous experience in the health care sector is an asset.

6. Strong organizational skills.

7. Ability to co-ordinate multiple tasks.

8. Innovation and experience in quality improvement practices.

9. Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and human relations skills.

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
