NAV CANADA’s Vancouver Area Control Centre (ACC) is currently looking for a Speciality Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Area Control Centre (ACC) Operations, the Specialty Manager is accountable for the safety, service, budget, personnel, and stakeholder relations in the delegated specialties This includes providing leadership to a team of Air Traffic Controllers, Air Traffic Operation Specialists and Team Supervisors, as well as working collaboratively with a team of duty and specialty managers, to effectively coordinate the daily activities within the operation.

Aviation and the management of aviation airspace and traffic is an ever-changing and innovative environment, this role will have the opportunity for the incumbent to have a lasting impact on the organization due to the various projects and strategic priorities they will be involved in. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is a good people manager with the ability to build and maintain trust relationships with various stakeholders and customers. Although previous aviation experience would be considered an asset, it is more important that we find someone who is a demonstrated change agent and mentor for their team, and who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo as they work to implement new technologies, procedures, and programs.

**Job Description**:
What you’ll be doing:

- Ensure the safety, service and quality of ACC services delegated within their scope of responsibility in collaboration with supervisors and Managers, ATS Quality Standards (MAQS)
- Day to day management of the specialty / unit including all staffing and personnel issues
- Responsible for leading a team including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and developing a high performing and highly engaged team
- Supporting ongoing on-the-job training within the specialties to ensure a positive and supportive training environment
- Develops and implements corrective action plans to address deficiencies in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS) program and identifies trends to improve safety and service
- Ensures OI investigations are completed and collaborates with all stakeholders involved.
- Ensures operation practices comply with the Fatigue Risk Management Program
- Accountable to plan, train and manage both the Emergency Response and Business Continuity Planning
- Supports Air Traffic Services (ATS) Standards by ensuring staff meet all licensing, medical and proficiency requirements required for their positions
- Acts as local point of contact for NAV CANADA for identified operational issues
- Develops and manages budgetary plans and forecasts based on operational requirements and priorities

What you bring:

- 3 to 5 years of leadership experience which could include a combination of management and supervisory experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry would be an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Air Navigation System and Air Traffic Management is an asset
- Ability to foster a climate conducive to an engaged workforce by promoting company values of respect, excellence, and service
- Demonstrated time management and judgement to prioritize multiple tasks of varying urgency
- Ability to manage large, complex initiatives
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
