We support many individuals living in Long Term Care (LTC) by providing leisure support in the community, advocacy, and person-directed supports that facilitate meaningful connections with family and friends. We are hiring **TWO** (2) dedicated **Developmental Services Professionals** seeking a meaningful career choice, who have a strong work ethic, and who will embrace our mission and values as they provide person-directed supports to people living in Long Term Care. The normal working hours for these positions are 25 - 30 hours per week, scheduled days, early evenings and every other weekend.

**Summary of Responsibilities**:
In general:

- Support the desire of individuals to live a good, rich and varied life as full citizens.
- Seek and facilitate opportunities within the community to help build and nurture relationships with family, friends, neighbours and community members.
- Seek and facilitate lifelong learning, leisure and/or volunteer opportunities, as articulated in Person-Centered Plans.

Specifically, provide support to people based on their personal strengths and needs. Some tasks could include, but are not limited to, assisting with:

- Community participation (leisure, volunteer and/or employment),
- Foster independence through a holistic and person-centered approach of “do with, not for”,
- Personal care, if required.

Enhance their self-determination through:

- Provision of full information and options available;
- Support follow-through on personal decisions;
- Provision of information about exercising rights and corresponding responsibilities, and
- Encouraging people to explore, define and choose what makes a ‘good life’ for them.

**Responsibilities to Association**:
1. Be aware of, and adhere to the Association’s Mission, Vision and Values statements and adhere to all policies and procedures.

2. Participate in regular individual consultation with the Manager, Long Term Care and liaise closely with the Coordinator, Long Term Care, for the purpose of accountability, professional development and ongoing performance evaluation.

3. Participate in all other employee meetings, as required.

4. Participate in staff development, both mandatory and values-based training, as required and as deemed necessary.

5. Follow agency procedure and protocol to maintain individuals’ files including completing accurate and detailed reports and records relative to the needs of the individual.

6. Liaise with community partners and professionals.

7. Perform various other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Developmental Services Worker diploma and/or personal and/or work-related experience in the area of human/social services; post-secondary education is preferred
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check specific to the Alice Saddy Association, First Aid/CPR and CPI certification or willingness to obtain
- Proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19 (to be provided upon hire)
- Valid driver’s license required, as well as the insurance requirements to transport people supported in your personal vehicle
- Ability to problem solve
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Effective time management skills
- Proficient Computer Skills

**Starting wage rate**: $24.47/hour.

**Hours of Work**:

- 25 - 30 hours per week, scheduled days, early evenings and every other weekend.
