Reporting to the Section Head, Recreation, the Recreation Officer serves as a facility specialist and provides a lead contract management role to support the Facilities and Capital Investment Program for the efficient delivery of BC Parks capital projects. The position manages medium term projects or several smaller scope projects and acts as a supportive role in the provision of capital projects, procurement of goods and services, contract management and technical advice to both the Provincial Services Branch and the Regional Operations Branch.

**Job Requirements**:

- University Degree in Tourism, Outdoor Recreation, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies, Geography, or other discipline related to the focus of the position, and a minimum of two (2) years related experience; OR
- Technical Diploma in a related field and a minimum of four (4) years experience.
- Other combinations of related training, education and experience may be considered.

Related Experience includes the following:

- Experience in contract administration/management.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience resolving problems, disagreements or other issues where parties have conflicting interests or perspectives.
- Experience analyzing planning documents, audits, reports, drawings and/or designs.

Preference may be given for one or more of the following:

- Experience working in National, Provincial, Regional or Municipal Park settings, or similar environments consisting of diverse outdoor recreation facilities.
- Experience using contract management tools, techniques, templates and processes preferably in a public sector environment.
- Experience conducting condition assessments of facilities and trails.
- Experience using and maintaining asset management systems and databases.
- Experience in recreation facility development and maintenance management.
- Experience in budget management.
- Construction experience, such as working with design drawings, engineers and architects.

Provisos and Willingness Statements:

- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent). Field work may include extensive travel throughout the province and/or outdoor work in all weather conditions, and in remote locations.**About this Position**:
