If so, this Unit Manager opportunity for the Royal Alexandra Hospital’s (RAH’s) Ophthalmology/Otolaryngology/GOR/Adult Day Surgery/Preadmission program could be perfect for you Our team of professionals perform over 11, 000 surgeries a year, most of which are complex and acute. We are a trauma OR and proud of our current trauma distinction with Accreditation Canada. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Unit Manager is accountable for the effective management of human, financial and physical resources within the respective Surgical Suite. As a front-line manager, you will provide daily operational and clinical leadership to ensure quality care within the department by upholding unit policies, procedures and goals. Excellent organizational skills and people management skills are required to lead the daily coordination of a busy surgical suite of 10 theatres and 14 bay recovery areas. Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills are important in this position as you will have the opportunity to work closely and strategically with a team of front-line managers in ensuring that consistent standards, goals, and objectives are met and communicated to all members of the interdisciplinary team.

Description:
In this Unit Manager position the ability to be flexible and fluid, while working in a variety of surgical services as a leader, is an asset. The Unit Manager leads quality initiatives and promotes a professional work environment at all times. Monitoring and organizing the workflow and efficient delivery of patient care through staff scheduling, assignment of work duties, and performance management are essential elements in this position. As a member of the management team, you will also have responsibilities associated with the development of strategic plans, process improvement initiatives, and the development and implementation of operational plans. It is expected that the Unit Manager will serve as a role model and will incorporate evidence-based, best practice into daily operations. This management position is responsible for promoting optimum, safe and effective patient care through leadership, mentorship and communication. The ability to effectively manage team culture will be essential cultivating an environment of respect and caring.

**Required Qualifications**:
Current registration with the Colleges & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Current CPR (BCLS-HCP).
