NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to finding ways forward to join the Faculty of Business, Environment and Technology as a Program Chair, BADP (Business Administration Diploma Program).
As per our strategic plan, NorQuest 2030: We are who we include, we will unite NorQuest with the communities we aim to serve. We will accomplish this goal, in part, by continuing to deliver workforce-relevant education. The Program Chair is expected to play a key role in supporting this goal by implementing Reimagine Higher Education initiatives.
The principal role of the Program Chair is to provide academic leadership and oversight to promote and grow the Business Administration Diploma Program offered by NorQuest and provide leadership in the following three areas:
- Learner Experience and Success
- Coaching and Development of Academic Staff and Faculty
- Program Quality Assurance
The role of the Program Chair (PC) is a complex and challenging role. The Program Chair is an instructor who will teach in the program as required (maximum 50%) and will have administrative responsibilities as outlined in the NorQuest College Faculty Association (NCFA) collective agreement.
The PC is accountable to support learner success by making decisions following applicable academic policies and procedures. They support learner engagement activities like orientation and other engagement activities.
The PC coaches and supports all academic staff in the program to improve program quality, faculty skills and development goals. They support instructor onboarding, conduct classroom observations, and provide feedback to instructors to ensure that an effective learning environment is maintained through innovation, creativity and teaching excellence. The PC is also accountable for assigning teaching workload, scheduling for instructors, and for supporting the Faculty Evaluation and Development (FED) process.
Reporting to the Academic Program Manager, Business Programs, the Program Chair is accountable for the program curriculum update and quality assurance of the curriculum. Collaborating with Institute of Teaching, Learning and Technology (ITLT), other Program Chairs and program instructors, they formulate strategies and processes to ensure up to date knowledge and current business practices and trends in the business field are included in the curriculum on a regular basis.

**Faculty Support and Development**
- Recruiting and orienting faculty and staff
- Monitoring faculty and staff development and provide thoughtful feedback on improving teaching in the classroom
- Consulting with faculty in their assignment of educational activities and service work
- Promoting professional development of faculty and staff through FED process
**Departmental and College Planning**
- Promoting the benefits of and advocating for the needs of the program
- Participating in the development of operational and financial plans
**Student Success**
- Promoting and supporting sound adult educational strategies
- Developing program admission criteria
- Monitoring overall student academic performance
- Mediating instructor concerns as appropriate
- Resolving academic issues, such as student appeals, as appropriate
**Curriculum Maintenance and Development**
- Leading program reviews and accreditation requirements
- Ensuring that programming is relevant, current and sustainable
- Coordinating the development and delivery of courses and programs
- Monitoring course evaluations
- Facilitating curriculum development and/or renewal
**Internal and External Liaison**
- Participating in timely and accurate communication with key stakeholders
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of program advisory committees, as required
- Coordinating expertise representation for external committees and taskforces
**Educational Activities**
- Promoting and participating in teaching excellence
- Facilitating learning
- Advocating for learners
- Using teaching and learning strategies
- Developing curriculum

- Pursuing applied research or professional scholarly activities

**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- Undergraduate degree with relevant work experience; Masters degree in Business or Education is an asset
- Minimum three years of teaching and curriculum development experience in post-secondary environment, preferably in the following areas of business
- Accounting
- Personal Financial Planning
- Leadership and Management
- Human Resources Management
- Change Management, Sustainable Business Practices
- Professional designations such as CPHR, or CPA is an asset
- Experience instructing in an adult education environment is required.
