**Job Description**:
Brad's Place provides youth and young adults an opportunity to seek therapeutic guidance to combat their drug and alcohol addiction within the Georgian Triangle Area.
Clients have an opportunity to learn positive coping strategies for the stressors in their lives while obtaining a positive supportive relationship with their loved ones and trained Addiction Specialists.
Brad's Place offers family members and loved ones an opportunity to be involved in every aspect of the clients care as well as gain the knowledge and skills to become a positive support.
As a Community Addiction Counsellor at Brad’s Place, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing individual counselling in the client’s home
- Completing addiction related assessments
- Providing health teaching and education
- Facilitation of psychoeducational groups
- Utilizing non-violent crisis intervention techniques as required
- Completing referrals to community partners and appropriate treatment settings
- Completing appropriate documentation as required
- Diploma in Social Services
- Diploma in Addictions and Mental Health
- Minimum three years experience in counselling to those who have a substance use disorder
- Experience supporting family members and those involved in providing support to the primary client
- Demonstrated experience in developing and/or facilitating therapeutic groups for those with substance use disorders, as well as for their families/significant others
- Demonstrated skill in cultural competence and knowledge of culturally appropriate community resources for those with addictions/concurrent disorders
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to travel and deliver service at various sites
- Ability to 'observe’ clients and record in client files appropriately
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
- ASIST training / NVCI / First-Aid, CPR / Mental Health First Aid considered an asset
- Certification as an Addictions Counselor with the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation
**Job Type**: Casual
**Salary**: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 - 40 per week

- Registered SSW (preferred)
