As a key member of the Winnipeg Client Reporting team reporting to the Senior Director of Portfolio Reporting. The manager will lead a team responsible for reporting the financial performance of two Segregated Funds holding a portfolio of $9.2 billion in real estate assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Daily Segregated Fund valuation process, to ensure completeness and accuracy of the net fund values.
- Lead the preparation of the financial reporting to The Canada Life Assurance Company on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Prepare and report annual subsidiary statements to tax departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional finance leaders to monitor and prepare account reconciliations that support the financial statements.
- Collaborate with GWLRA regional offices across the country to track, analyze, and report on financial data.
- Prepare and facilitate responses to internal and external auditor enquiries.
- Identify and help manage risks and opportunities to enhance the accounting and reporting of the Segregated Funds.
- Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Research and analyze new IFRS accounting standards and accounting issues.
- Provide in-depth financial, variance and trending analyses and value-added insights related to key returns and other financial and non-financial metrics.
- Interpret results and articulate appropriate recommendations to ensure effective and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and consolidate monthly and annual operating budgets for properties within the Segregated Funds.
- Leverage technology to turn data into actionable insights.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional CPA designation or enrollment in the final year of the CPA program.
- Minimum 2 years of related working experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analytic tools.
- Experience with Yardi and Power BI would be an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with the proven ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization.
- Enjoy problem solving and complex organizational accounting.
- A track record of process improvements through the use of technology solutions.
