**Temporary Term and Task Position**

**Accountabilities**
- Supervises the #2 BOSP vessel charging and melting operation on turn to ensure that liquid ladle steel of required quality and quantity is produced in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
- Directs and manages the furnace crew, crane operators and gradall operators.
- Interfaces with outside groups (pot haulers, Material Handling, HM delivery, etc.) to facilitate efficient and consistent operation of the BOF furnaces.
- Responsible for the chemistry, temperature and yield of liquid steel tapped.
- Responsible for cost effective utilization of alloys and other process consumables.
- Responsible to monitor the condition of the vessel refractory linings as per the established procedures and bring any issues up with the #2 BOSP Shift Coordinator so that an effective plan can be made to address them
- Responsible to instruct, monitor, and correct standard operating practices of the operating crew.
- Ensures adherence to all ISO quality standards.
- Responsible to ensure that the Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to on shift. This includes the responsibility to instruct, monitor and correct.
- Works with the #2 BOSP Shift Coordinator to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities on shift that affect the availability and production capability of the charging and melting equipment.
- Required to complete various detailed shift, heat, and incident reports.

**Qualifications**
- Must have a minimum three (3) year diploma in an electrical, mechanical, or metallurgical discipline and two (2) years of operations related experience.

**OR**
- Must have grade 12 or equivalent and minimum of one (1) year of Steelmaking/Casting experience.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Knowledge of the Steelmaking _I _Casting processes.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, organizational, team and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to Algoma’s Health and Safety and Environmental policies.
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Computer skills and experience with Algoma’s systems including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project) and SAP.
