Description: The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides basic nursing care to patients/residents as directed, assists with activities of daily living, and performs other activities necessary to meet the personal needs of patients/residents. The HCA maintains and promotes patient/resident safety, comfort, privacy, dignity and independence, and performs duties to maintain an aesthetic environment. The HCA is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Must be eligible to work in Canada, have completed a minimum of grade 11 and meet the admission requirements for the Health Care Aide Program at NorQuest College (listed below). English Language Arts - this requirement can be met with any of the following, or an equivalent course: 60% in English Language Arts 20-2. 55% in English Language Arts 30-2. OR Successful completion of Accuplacer exam. If English is your second language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency before admission. These results must be no more than two years old when you start your program. Test scores that are accepted: IELTS Academic: 6; no section score below 5.5. TOEFL iBT: 71. Duolingo: 105. CLBA or CLBPA: no section score below 7. Applicants must be physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English. Please note - this is a training opportunity for you to become a certified Health Care Aide. Applicants without Health Care Aide certification or experience are welcome to apply.
