**Research Specialist (molecular biology)**

**Position Description**
This position reports to the Team Lead - Therapeutics. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Specialist with a strong molecular biology background. The successful applicant will plan and conduct experiments on different cellular models (primary, cell lines), process samples to extract DNA/RNA and/or protein, and run various assays on extracted materials. Proficiency in nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR and Sanger sequencing data analysis are requirements. Some experience with CRISPR and cell culture is an asset.
**Responsibilities**
- Carry out advanced genetic and/or molecular biology experiments to support the development of the pre-clinical pipeline
- Follow established protocols and/or optimize protocols to improve efficiency and reproducibility
- Analyze and interpret experimental results using bioinformatics tools and software
- Maintain accurate and organized records of experimental procedures, data, and results
- Carry out experiments independently
- Document and report experimental results for internal review
- Other duties, as required
**Qualifications**
- M.Sc. in a relevant biological field and 5+ years experience
- Experience with Sanger sequencing data analysis and qPCR is required
- Experience designing qPCR assays is an asset
- Experience with CRISPR and cell culture is an asset
- Experience with GDP and GLP is an asset
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, statistical analysis software (e.g. R, SPSS, Prism)
- Proven attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate as an effective team player while working independently and within timelines
- Excellent verbal and written communication
**Salary**: From $65,000.00 per year

**Education**:
