The **Tribe Administrator** operates under the direct supervision of the Chief and provides direction and supervision to department Managers (this includes Directors and the Store Manager) to ensure all planned programs and services of Administration are delivered in accordance to the Council’s policies and regulations and the decisions of the Chief and Council and mandatory government laws, regulations and policies are implemented.

Preference will be given to persons of Indigenous ancestry.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Operations Management or other related field including Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) designation or Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) designation; and
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the administration of First Nations services and in the provision of operations management; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role, including management and development of programs, managing, directing and leading employees; and liaising with various regulatory agencies;
- Experience developing a variety of written reports, proposals, policy and procedures, presentations and other documentation in accordance with organization directives and/or regulatory guidelines;
- Experience in the management and control of operating budgets;
- Valid standard first aid and CPR certificate may be required;
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license;
Clean criminal record check.

**About the Penelakut Tribe**

Penelakut Tribe is a Hul’qumi’num speaking community that is separated into the following four reserve locations accessible by ferry or boat and located adjacent to Chemainus and in the Southern Gulf Islands:
Tsussie, 15.5 hectares, Northern tip of Galiano Island, 29.1 hectares, Tent Island, 34.4 hectares, and Penelakut Island, 556.7 hectares

Together, we have a total of 1,001 registered Penelakut Community Members that are split into half on-reserve and half off-reserve. Our traditional language and our cultural customs are alive and celebrated, and our elders are active and respected. A diversity of housing allows our Elders, Youth and Families to stay in the community and grow through different stages of their lives. Members are supported by a strong community that take care of each other.
