The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta is one of Canada’s leading academic health centres for pediatric specialty and subspecialty education and research. **Position Summary**

The Research Coordinator (RC) position will support the operational aspects of research projects within the Division of Neonatal Care. This position plays a critical role in participant recruitment, data management, and facilitating project progress in compliance with ethics board requirements and hospital regulations. The RC will also contribute to administrative tasks and attend professional development opportunities offered by the Women’s and Children’s Health Research Institute, Alberta Health Services, and the University of Alberta.

The RC will work closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs) and research teams, ensuring the smooth execution of research activities and maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

**Duties**

Administrative Support
- Maintains filing system for research projects including grants, ethics, letters of support and other documents.
- Organizes and schedules local, national and international meetings, drafts agendas and action items, takes minutes, and prepares correspondence.
- Assists with the planning and execution of meetings, retreats, conferences, and workshops for local, national and international attendees.
- Constructs and submits conference materials (i.e. abstracts, workshops)
- Reviews and submits manuscripts to journals, as well as book chapters to publishers
- Coordinates the preparation and submission of conference materials (e.g., abstracts, workshop proposals).
- Updates and formats the PI’s CV to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Research Support
- Assists with participant recruitment, data collection, entry, cleaning, and analysis.
- Develops and maintains databases as required.
- Creates site performance benchmarking reports in national and international quality improvement and research projects, based on the descriptive statistics on the databases created.
- Ensures strict adherence to study protocols, hospital standards, and ethical guidelines.

Research Financial Administration
- Assist with the development of budget proposals and justification documentation for granting agencies, industry sponsors, and investigator-initiated research.
- Assist in management of Principal Investigator (PI) accounts to ensure that funding is sufficient to support activities and that funds are not left outstanding at the project end.
- Oversees the financial transactions across all sources of funds.
- Assist in the creation of financial or final reports for stakeholders, granting agencies or external funders.
- Prepares entries and updates tracking systems of all revenues and expenses for projects.
- Reviews financial transactions to ensure accuracy and to identify and address transactions that
