- The annual salary range is $68,385 - $109,584 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.**Position Summary**
- Reporting to the Coordinator Library Services, the Librarian is a non instructional faculty position in the North Island College Library & Learning Commons. Hours will be approximately 14 hours per week for September through November, and then on-call going forward.
The Librarian provides library instruction and reference services in person and virtually to advance the principles of information literacy. The incumbent remains current with evolving information technologies to best integrate and advance the LLC’s teaching and service goals. The Librarian holds a leadership role in overseeing the technologies used within the LLC. The Librarian participates actively as a contributing member on College committees or other college-wide activities and regularly engages in professional development activities.**Position Competencies**

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Works collegially with library team members to foster a compassionate, inclusive, service-oriented Library &Learning Commons (LLC).
- Leads the creation and enhancement of online learning objects such as specialized research guides and multimedia tutorials
- Produces, maintains and assesses the LLC’s virtual presence and works with the library team to communicate the LLC brand (inclusivity, look-credibility/trust/usability and functionality) of social media and the LLC website
- Provides expert research and instructional services virtually and in person in addition to furthering current/emerging trends in information literacy instruction and technologies.
- Liaises with Faculty to support virtual library instruction and reference services as an embedded librarian within the Learning Management System (designing webinar presentations, creating multimedia content for online guides, and answering reference questions)
- Develops and delivers virtual and in-person clinics/workshops on various topics related to the research process
- Participates as a member of the Provincial AskAway chat service
- Chooses and integrates information technologies to effectively deliver library resources and services while working closely with the Library Technician Cataloguing/Systems to maximize existing technology infrastructure
- Trains library staff on current and newly adopted technologies
- Establishes user experience assessment practices to assess how student interaction with library technology and resources

**Required Education & Experience**
- Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program
- Minimum of two years’ recent experience in providing reference services, both virtual and face to face in an academic library environment
- Minimum of two years’ recent experience in providing information literacy instruction in an academic library environment
- Minimum two years’ work experience providing progressive leadership in utilizing library technologies

**Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities**
- Skilled in conducting reference interviews and providing reference services
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate emerging technologies into research support.
- Experience creating, editing and managing collaborative web-based content management tools; experience with basic HTML
- Proven excellent communication and customer service skills, with demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgment and diplomacy
- Clearly evidenced organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize tasks, ensure attention to detail and efficiently meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated effective team behaviors such as active listening, sharing, balanced participation, and development of shared team goals
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively and respectfully within a collegial team environment.
