Position Profile:
Our Wildlife Technician is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week permanent position responsible for supporting the delivery of treatment, rehabilitation, and care for our wildlife patients. This essential role supports Wildlife
Rescue’s rehabilitation program.
Wage:
$21.00 - $23.00

Established in 1979, Wildlife Rescue Association of BC is a leader in the rehabilitation of wild animals and is committed to educating the public on how to coexist peacefully with wildlife. Located in Burnaby, BC, we are western Canada’s busiest wildlife rehabilitation centre, with over 5,000 animal patients admitted each year.

Highlight of Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily delivery of treatment, rehabilitation, and care for our wildlife patients, including but not limited to admission, examination, housing, diets, pain and wound management, record keeping and monitoring
- Actively participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans that ensure the highest quality of care for all wildlife patients.
- Contribute to the identification and expansion of standard operating procedures, and program materials, that support the needs of the Wildlife Hospital
- Support in the ongoing maintenance of the property and contribute to the high standards of facility cleanliness
- Actively participate in the training, supervision, development, and recognition of hospital volunteers
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Previous wildlife rehabilitation experience
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to motivate others and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic team environment
- Computer skills: MS Office
- Experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures and protocols
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays (no overnight shifts)
- Knowledge of native wildlife in BC, particularly the Lower Mainland region an asset
