**About this job**:
PartnerRe’s North America Life Division is seeking an Associate Actuary to join the Corporate Actuarial function in the Toronto office.

The role will be in the Life Valuation team, interacting closely with various functions including operations, finance, pricing, and experience analysis team. We are situated in in downtown Toronto near Union Station, accessible by GO Transit and the TTC.

PartnerRe requires our staff to work in a hybrid work arrangement. You will be required to work on site Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Monday & Friday are remote work days

We have an informal rotation program in the Life Valuation team. Our associates start out in one of the areas below, rotate within the team annually such that over three years they develop expertise across the Valuation function. The informal rotation provides a wider breadth and flexibility in responsibilities (as opposed to working strictly in the same function for two years). This framework intends to train the students not only on technical skills, but also on coordination, planning, and management skills.

**About the role**:
**Primary responsibilities include**:

- Contribute to the timely and accurate reporting of mortality and policyholder behavior experience
- Use data analysis tools to summarize and organize data extracts at varying levels for informative assumption setting
- Interpret trends in experience data and propose assumption recommendations with rationale
- Support in the develop of memorandums to seek assumption proposal approval from senior management
- Drive for accuracy, consistency, and improvements within various experience studies
- Ensure that any changes to experience study processes, particularly those in spreadsheets, are incorporated appropriately as transparent and repeatable processes with controls
- Support internal and external audits, including walkthroughs and responses to questions from auditors
- Request and document the financial impacts of assumption changes
- Maintain updated documentation on all processes
- Support structural and design improvements to experience studies
- Position presents opportunity to identify, recommend, and implement improvements to the assumptions setting processes and methodology

**Skills**:

- AXIS, SQL, R, Excel. Power BI,
- Experience modeling in AXIS is preferred.
- SQL/Access or similar database management tool.
- R and statistical modelling skills are desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.

**Experience**:

- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Experience with improving and optimizing processes and reflecting appropriate controls
- Ability to work under pressure and juggle with multiple priorities.
- Pro-active self-starter.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy.

**Knowledge**:

- Business acumen of the life reinsurance industry
- Familiarity with individual life products

**Qualification**:

- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 3 Society of Actuaries exams
