Ministry of Emergency Management & Climate Readiness (EMCR) leads provincial emergency and disaster risk management, builds and fosters collaborative relationships and partnerships, advances meaningful and lasting reconciliation, and supports all peoples in British Columbia to reduce disaster risk.

The Recovery Policy and Appeals unit provides policy and appeals support for broader provincial recovery issues as well as Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program specific policy issues. This unit works collaboratively with the Recovery Funding Program unit, which delivers recovery funding through the DFA program and coordinates federal funding through the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements agreement with the Government of Canada. This position will report to the Director of Recovery Policy and Appeals.

This position is part of a team responsible for Disaster Recovery Policy and Appeals. The position will require you to independently conduct appeals, hearings and/or reviews and recommend final, legally-binding decisions in complex cases. Provide advice and interpretation of legislation and regulations to other program areas.

**Job Requirements**:

- A degree, diploma or certificate in business administration, public administration, emergency management, financial administration, social services or a related discipline PLUS a minimum of two years of **related experience; OR**:

- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, for example five or more years’ **related experience.**
- **Related experience must include a combination of the following**:

- Writing formal decisions including analysis and recommendations.
- Experience managing large volumes of work with changing priorities and timelines.
- Experience working in emergency management.
- Experience with administering or adjudicating government funding programs.
- Travel to support community recovery operations to locations anywhere in the province.
- Work on-call and extended hours during emergency activations.

Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service which may include a Criminal records check, and/or Criminal records Review Act (CCRA) check and/or enhanced screening checks as required by the Ministry.
